As a violinist, composer, and improviser, Gibrana Cervantes has distinguished herself as a musician with a profound impact on contemporary avant-garde music. Born in Mexico and currently based in Berlin, she is known for the intensity and physicality of her live performances, where the violin becomes an expanded instrument, capable of moving from melody to brutality, from fragility to noise. Her work unfolds across experimental music and contemporary performance, often pushing the limits of endurance, presence, and embodiment.
Her forthcoming release will appear on A World Of Service, the label founded by JASSS, in 2026.
In addition to her solo work, Cervantes is a longstanding collaborator of internationally acclaimed choreographer Florentina Holzinger, contributing as both composer and performer across her works. She is also a core member of the experimental ensemble Amor Muere, alongside Mabe Fratti, Concepción Huerta, and Camille Mandoki, co-founder and curator of 316centro, an independent space for experimental sound and contemporary practices in Mexico City, and has collaborated with Lucrecia Dalt, including contributions to the score of HBO’s series The Baby and Dalt’s critically acclaimed 2022 album ¡Ay!.
